March 28 is Diabetes Alert Day
One in four Americans with diabetes doesn't know they have it. This March 28 is American Diabetes Association Alert Day®, a one-day wake-up call to share the seriousness of type 2 diabetes. Evaluate your risk for developing type 2 diabetes and learn how you can help prevent it with information from the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) and the National Diabetes Education Program (NDEP). Take the type 2 diabetes risk test to derermine if you are at risk for developing type 2 diabetes. Once you have taken the test, discuss the results with your doctor at your next visit. Have a family history of diabetes? Take NDEP's family health history quiz and find out what you can do to prevent type 2 diabetes in your family. If you are at increased risk, you can make a plan to help prevent developing the disease with NDEP's GAME PLAN To Prevent Type 2 Diabetes.
