At TAHEC we offer a variety of services designed to increase awareness and education as well as  provide training and resources for health related issues in our area

 

• Southwest Alabama Health Improvement Initiative (SWAHII)

 

The  SWAHII Program  is an  initiative that  addresses 18 of Alabama’s  rural  Delta Counties unmet  health care needs and prevalent health disparities through the development of  innovative projects.

 

The primary focused of  DRAP is to :1 provide a delivery of preventive services for   individuals who are at-risk of developing chronic health diseases (i.e. – diabetes,  heart disease, obesity, thru  health   promotion and education); and 2) increase  access to prescription drugs for medically indigent, to  include Medicare and Medicaid  populations.

 

 

• Community Training Center (CTC)

 

The CTC is an American Heart Association approved Program that provides Basic and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Instruction.

 

The center’s coordinator monitors teaching activities for various sites within the CTC and provides certification for instructors and encourages Public Access Life Support programs.

 

 

• Black Belt Medical Reserve Corps (BBMRC)

 

The Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) was founded after President Bush’s 2002 State of the Union address in which he  asked all Americans to volunteer in support of their country.MRC is a specialized component of the Citizens Corps, a National network of volunteers dedicated  to ensuring home town security.  Citizen Corps, along with the Corporation for National and Community Service, and the Peace Corp are all part of the President’s USA Freedom Corps, which promotes volunteerism and service throughout the nation.

• Rural Allied Health Network Training (RAhNT)

 

 

The Rural Allied Health Network Training Partnership (RAhNT) is a program that supports the development of formal, mature rural health networks that focus on activities that achieve efficiencies, expand access to, coordinate and improve the quality of essential health care services, and strengthen the rural health care system as a whole.

 

The mission of the RAhNT Partnership is to increase the number of primary, allied health care professionals and to improve access to health care in rural and underserved communities in 13 counties in Central Alabama. The goals of this program are accomplished through the recruitment, clinical training/placement, and retention of Allied Health professionals.

• Health College Connection Program

 

Health College Connection Programs I and II are designed to identify, prepare, and increase the number of minority and disadvantaged students entering health care careers.  The aim of HCCP I and II is also to increase the number of health care providers in Alabama’s underserved Black Belt counties.

40 + Years of Success!

Tuskegee Area Health Education Center, Inc. (TAHEC) has had a 40 + year history of successful grant management experience.  Since its inception, TAHECs core funding has been derived from the Health Resources and Services Administration Bureau of Health Professions and the State of Alabama.
