Who We Are

We are an organization dedicated to educating future health professionals. We strive to improve the access to healthcare in unequipped communities in Central Alabama.

BBMRC

The Black Belt Medical Reserve Corps is one of Alabama’s many Medical Reserve Corps, whose goal is to provide medical knowledge and assistance to communities.

What is HCCP?

Health College Connection Programs (HCCP) are designed to identify, prepare, and increase the number of minority and disadvantaged students entering health care careers. The aim of HCCP is also to increase the number of health care providers in Alabama’s underserved Black Belt counties.

Support the Diabetes Management Program

TAHEC was established to increase the number of health care professionals and to improve access to health care in rural and underserved communities in Central Alabama.  TAHECs catchments area includes nineteen (19) counties in Alabama’s Black Belt.  TAHEC was incorporated in 1972, as a part of a system of AHEC’s to address the problems related to health resource shortages prevalent in rural areas of Alabama.

The funds will be used to support the Diabetes Management Program throughout the state of Alabama.  The Diabetes Management Program will provide health screenings for individuals who might have diabetes, will follow treatment for those who are diagnosed and do not have ready access to healthcare providers due to transportation or other challenges.  The Diabetes Management Program will also host an annual diabetes conference for those living with diabetes and their caregivers. It will also provide up-to-date information for healthcare providers.
